22 December 2022 – The 2022 Fall season ended with the spectacular Winter Gala and New Member Intronization at Acquivit! The evening was truly a special occasion as we were delighted to induct a large group of candidates into the Commanderie, all of whom are true lovers of the Rhone Valley and who will help enrich our Society for years to come. The evening was filled with frivolity from the opening apertif to the last drop from the last bottle. The induction ceremony included full regalia followed by an incredible dinner from Executive Chef Emma Bengtsson and the ensuing merriment! Another memorable evening with the Commanderie des Costes du Rhone!
16 November 2021 – A very special night indeed! We were honored to be joined by the rising star of the Rhone, Xavier Gerard, at the University Club for a vertical tasting of his glorious wines, complimented by a six course tasting menu. A delight of the senses! A very special thanks to Xavier for making the trip and sharing such a wonderful evening with the Commanderie des Costes du Rhone!
20 September 2021 – With the waning of summer and its multiple delights punctuated by warm weather and of course the splendor of magnificent opportunities it provides, it is now high time to recalibrate our sights forward and to begin imagining the wonderful joys awaiting us in the coming months. With this notion very much in mind, we are very pleased to announce our first event of the new season to be held at Craft on September 20, 2021.
As many are aware, Craft, a timeless icon, is the product of a vision by head and celebrity chef, Tom Coliccio. His goal is to serve simply prepared dishes which highlight flawless seasonal ingredients. He has achieved this goal wonderfully with the memorable presentation of delicious American fare in a warm and relaxing environment.
The evening will start with an assortment of Cold and Hot Hors d’Oeuvres beginning promptly at 6:30 PM. We will then move on to a Four-Course Chef’s Tasting Menu at 7:00 PM. In keeping with our tradition, the Commanderie will provide an aperitif. As always, you are encouraged to bring other preferably mature wines of at least 10 years of age that you wish to enjoy with your fellow confreres.
19 June 2021 – Whereas the threat of the pandemic has diminished noticeably over the past weeks, it nevertheless continues to linger which compels us to remain vigilant. As many of you may remember we organized a super safe Al Fresco event last October at Tuxedo Park which was extremely well received. Now that Summer is fast approaching, we would like to repeat a second Covid sensitive outing. On this occasion, however, the stage will be set by the uniquely beautiful verdant background of the local Tuxedo environment. Naturally complimentary transportation and all other pertinent details will follow with my formal invite.
20 May 2021 – As we begin to turn the corner and enter a new and more hopeful phase with a sense that the virus is increasingly waning, we have decided to advance our scheduled dinner plans. Against this background, we are pleased to invite you to this year’s first Commanderie des Costes du Rhone dinner to be at Tocqueville located at 1 East 15th Street. The evening will begin with a reception at 6:45 PM followed by a seated dinner at 7:30 PM. For the reception, we will be serving Krug Grand Cuvee 167th Edition Brut graciously donated by our very own Consoeur Soonae Sakow!
21 December 2020 – The holidays are upon us, and in the spirit of our continued camaraderie, we will be having an online Zoom event to once again spend quality virtual time with each other. Optional theme of Hermitage, but please do feel free to open whatever you have available and we can all raise a glass together!
